Clearwire Launches Rover Prepaid Brand

Clearwire branched out in its WiMax mobile data service on Monday, launching a prepaid brand called Rover.

Rover uses the same network as Clearwire's existing Clear service but offers simpler pricing plans and unique client devices. Consumers can pay US$50 for a month of data service, $20 for a week or $5 for a day, with no contracts or data caps. Rover starts out by offering two devices: the Rover Puck portable Wi-Fi router, priced at $149.99, and the Rover Stick USB modem, for $99.99.  Full article here

Clearwire today issued a rather cryptic press release stating that on August 30 (next Monday), the company would be unveiling their plans to "serve a new customer segment." They didn't get any more specifics than that, aside from the fact that Clearwire  article here
 
New Multi-Application Visa Prepaid Card Debuts at Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 25, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Visa Inc.  has introduced the world's first Visa Prepaid card that combines general purpose payment, transit fare acceptance and event ticketing features all in one card.

The Visa Prepaid card's functions include the ability to make purchases at Visa merchants, and pay for trips on Singapore's public transportation system. The cards will also be used as the means for entry to the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) closing ceremonies on August 26, and were used for admission to the opening ceremony on August 14
