Wal-Mart Invest's in Green Dot

Wal-Mart Stores has bought itself an indirect link to commercial banking space through a deal to invest in the prepaid debit-card seller Green Dot, The Financial Times reported.

Earlier this month, the retail giant bought a minority stake of roughly 2 million shares in Green Dot, which already manages Wal-Mart’s prepaid card business, according to a regulatory filing.

Flint Prepaid launches international prepaid calling cards

Flint Prepaid, a subsidiary of Flint Telecom Group, has launched a new selection of international prepaid calling cards in conjunction with its distribution partners.

The Yorkers card will enable users who purchase these cards in New York and surrounding areas to call other countries by dialing local numbers and then connecting them to the destination using Flint's advanced VoIP network. The cards will initially be distributed in the New York area and will expand to other regions over time, the company said.

According to The Telecom News Bulletin, Zong has launched the "Keep Phone On" (KPO) reward program. ZONG subscribers will automatically win prizes just for keeping their phone on. With KPO, ZONG rewards its customers for staying with ZONG. The longer they stay with ZONG, the more rewards and prizes they receive.

Boost Mobile gets prepaid Android phone

The good news is that the Motorola i1 is an Android phone with a walkie-talkie function and can be used with Boost Mobile's prepaid (no contract) $50 a month unlimited Web, talk and text service.

The bad news is that the touchscreen Motorola i1 runs Android 1.5, an older version of the Android operating system.  Article Here
