Includes monthly minutes available for as low as 5 cents Today, wireless carrier Virgin Mobile announced the introduction of payLo by Virgin Mobile, a new extension to Sprint’s powerhouse prepaid portfolio. According to the company, the new payLo by Virgin Mobile option is meant to deliver to users a 400-minute plan for only $20 a month. Shentel picks up prepaid wireless |

Shentel announced late Thursday that it has signed an agreement with its wireless partner, Sprint Nextel, to sell Virgin Mobile and Boost prepaid services. Beginning Sunday, the two brands will be available in Sprint stores throughout Shentel's wireless service area, which stretches from Harrisonburg to Altoona, Pa. |

Youth Cards Present a Marketing Opportunity, says Auriemma Consulting Group |

Prepaid cards that carry network brands, like Visa or MasterCard, are gaining in popularity, but primarily as gift cards, according to Cardbeat®, a syndicated market research report published by Auriemma Consulting Group (ACG). In a recent Cardbeat survey, 42% of respondents said they’d received a network-branded (or open-loop) gift card, compared to 67% who had received a store-specific card. “That’s a big increase since our 2005 Cardbeat survey of the gift card market, when only 26% of shoppers received open-loop cards,” says Nancy Stahl, editor of Cardbeat. |
