Police warn of prepaid credit card scam |

LAKEPORT, CA – Officials are warning of a money scam that's begun appearing locally. On Thursday Lakeport Police Chief Kevin Burke reported that a white male suspect in his late 20s went into a Lakeport bank and presented a prepaid $400 credit card. Burke said the suspect asked the teller for multiple transactions in the amount of $400, claiming that his credit card has a $400 per transaction limit. |

DES MOINES, Iowa — An analyst raised his profit estimates for Visa Inc. and MasterCard Inc. for 2010 and 2011 on Tuesday, saying the increasing use of prepaid cards will boost profitability. Senior Secured Debt Restructured; New Management Team Appointed Rapid Link, Incorporated (OTCBB: RPID) announced that, as of February 24, 2010, it has consummated the initial closing under a Share Exchange Agreement among the Company, Blackbird Corporation and certain of their stockholders. Under the terms of the Share Exchange Agreement, the Company has acquired Mr. Prepaid, Inc., a former subsidiary of Blackbird, in exchange for 10,000,000 shares of Series A Convertible Preferred Stock. The shares of preferred stock represent, on an as-converted basis, 80% of the outstanding capital stock of the Company. Mr. Prepaid is in the business of providing prepaid telecommunication and transaction based point of sale activation solutions through approximately 1,000 independent retailers in the Eastern United States. Mr. Prepaid's product offerings include prepaid wireless PINs for use with various mobile telephone providers. |

Prepaid financial-services company Green Dot Corp. announced plans to sell up to $150 million in stock through an initial public offering. While filing for new offerings continue at a steady clip, the IPO market has got off to a rough start in 2010, which started with a slump in equities. Many companies have either delayed planned offerings or abandoned them altogether as stock demand petered. Green Dot makes reloadable prepaid debit cards that are sold and can be reloaded in major U.S. chain stores like Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) and Walgreen Co. (WAG). In its year ended July 31, it had $234.8 million in revenue for a $37.2 million profit, better than any year before. It plans to use proceeds from the IPO for general corporate purposes and proposed to list its stock on the New York Stock Exchange. |

Nations Power announces prepaid services and real time pricing |

Texas-based Nations power announced on February 26 that it was offering prepaid services and pricing in real time for its electricity customers. The offerings make the utility the first in the United States to offer these smart energy services.
Nations Power is a certified Retail Electric Provider (REP) for customers with smart meters. Its services are only available if a smart meter has been installed. The prepaid program will allow Nations Power to provide service to customers who lack the funds for an up-front deposit or high pre-payments that other utilities require. |
